“Open Enrollment is a chance for everybody in the United States that is 65 years or older, they can explore their Medicare options,” explains HealthShare360 Medicare Advisor Velnrina Ayala. “The significance of Open Enrollment, sometimes called Annual Enrollment Period, is that patients have a great chance to explore their options. All types of plans, anywhere from October 15th through December 7th.”

Medicare plans make changes every year. Things like cost, coverage, and what providers and pharmacies are in-network. October 15 to December 7 is when everyone with Medicare can change their health plans and prescription drug coverage to better meet their needs.

“There's so much information to know about Medicare,” admits Ayala. “And when the Open Enrollment Period comes, and everybody in America has to make a decision, we strongly tell you that there is a Medicare plan for you. Find the right trusted source and explore those options.”

Medicare decisions can affect your health. In fact, studies show those who are uninsured or underinsured are less likely to take advantage of preventive services and more likely to have poorer health outcomes. Your healthcare needs change, and whether you’re aging into Medicare or have been covered for years, these eight weeks are an opportunity to compare benefit options, and make sure you have the absolute best health coverage for you.

“Finding the right Medicare coverage is the most important during that time period,” says Ayala. “And although it is overwhelming at HealthShare360 we definitely look to decrease that, make it a pleasant experience, simplify everything, and help patients find the best Medicare plan for them.
