If you were impacted by Hurricane Ian or Nicole, Medicare has given qualifying Florida seniors more time to make changes to their Medicare coverage.
Who’s Eligible?
If you missed the opportunity to make changes to your Medicare coverage during the traditional Medicare Open Enrollment Period (October 15 through December 7), Medicare has declared this enrollment extension for seniors living in any of the Florida counties declared disaster areas.
How Long Is the Special Enrollment period?
This enrollment extension could end as early as January 31 or run as late as March 31 - depending on your county and the particular storm. The changes you make during this special extended enrollment will be effective the first of the month after the plan receives your enrollment request.
